Here are some suggestions for making the most of a post-secondary education. The “college experience” is expensive, so get your money’s worth.

But what does that mean, exactly?

1 - Show up on time for classes prepared to listen and take notes.

2 - Perfection is only approachable, not obtainable - there will be setbacks.

3 - Understand student loans before you sign. In fact, understand anything you sign!

4 - Don't annoy professors with excuses.

5 - During class, be listening not multi-tasking.

6 - Enjoy in moderation - remember why you are in college.

7 - Personal responsibility - be aware of placement exams, speak to your professors, be aware of drop dates, avoid denial, keep your parents in the loop (good and bad).

8 - College is a big change - mental health services are always available

9 - A college education is a gateway to lifelong learning, not necessarily a six-figure income.

10 - Explore a variety of interests from the buffet of learning in front of you.
