Tips for Effective Learning - A Message for ALL Students
Product Description
It’s always a good idea to review tips for effective learning.
Most students have study behaviors – some good, some not so good.
Take a look at this list of tips and check off the ones you already do well and mark the ones that improvement
(1) Your Study Space
Avoid distractions in your study space.
Learn how to create a distraction-free zone.
You don’t need ONE study space - be flexible.
(2) Manage time or “go with the flow”?
Some learners need to schedule blocks of study time and some learners can study in short bursts of time… and different subjects require different time allotments… A few math problems might be doable in 20 minutes but long history chapter might take an hour to read and another 30 minutes to answer questions… different tasks, different time requirements…
(3) Don’t let a bad grade keep you down.
Ask yourself, “What did I do wrong?” – study your mistakes on your exam and then resolve to study longer and sooner and get help – do your best to not fall behind – playing catch up is no fun, but sometimes necessary.
Be proactive – ask the teacher for help, get a tutor, study harder and sooner for the next exam… keep up – don’t fall behind and if you do, ask the teacher for help, get a tutor, get tutorial software.
Keep a “to-do” list and/or calendar (wall calendars are nice, digital and analog and online calendars are popular). This little bit of organization will keep you on track.
(4) Look after yourself
You’ll study better if you take care of yourself. Make sure you eat well and get enough sleep and physical exercise. Don't reward yourself with too many sugary or fatty snacks or push yourself to study late into the night. It’s also a good idea to make sure you drink lots of water when you’re studying.
