Where does motivation come from?
Intrinsic motivation versus Extrinsic motivation
Intrinsic motivation comes from within. The activity or behavior is inherently satisfying and enjoyable. It is driven by an interest and curiosity that provides a sense of satisfaction such as solving problems simply for the joy of it!
Extrinsic motivation involves doing an activity simply to receive an external reward or avoid punishment. Extrinsic motivation involves external incentives not just doing the activity for enjoyment.
Where does the spark of inspiration come from?
Inspiration sparks motivation. Inspiration can create a surge of enthusiasm, or sense of purpose, which then motivates action and pursuit of goals. A meaningful conversation can trigger a spark of inspiration to achieve, make a positive impact, or take on an adventure.
Who motivates the motivators?
1. Motivators may have their own personal goals, passion about their work, and derive fulfillment they get by helping others.
2. Motivators who witness the positive impact of their work and see the progress of others encourages them to continue.
3. Being appreciated for their work can be a strong source of motivation for motivators providing a sense of accomplishment.
4. Motivators are often dedicated to personal growth and continuous learning. Expanding their own knowledge allows them to inspire others.
5. Motivators may seek support from like-minded individuals or have their own mentors and role models who inspire them.
Motivators are not immune to challenges or setbacks; however, they often possess a strong commitment to their purpose which helps them overcome obstacles and stay motivated.
